The use of technology has become a key factor in how patients navigate their way through illness. With the advent of social media, online communities, electronic records and communications, and a host of online resources, websites and interactive platforms, patients have more and more access to information as it relates to their health. Technology has empowered the patient and facilitated a proactive approach in his/her care and treatment, which is essential to the improvement of health outcomes and to our economy.

As payment models move from fee-for-service to global payments and payment based on outcomes, new models and processes of care delivery will extend beyond the confines of the exam room and actively engage the patient as a critical member of the care team.  This will pave the way for new technologies that will enable patients to exert greater control over their own care from preventive care through management of chronic disease.  Decisively, technologists are showing that engaging patients’ attention and interest in their own care on a daily basis is often more effective than traditional treatment.

Please join us to hear examples and explore the opportunities that exist to empower the patient, improving healthcare and reducing costs merely by heightening patient and family involvement in their own care.

Our panel of experts will explore:

  • The impact of patient engagement on quality of care across the continuum; in the physician office, clinical center, hospital, skilled nursing facilities, as well as in community
  • Technologies that have made a difference to reduce re-admissions, improve care and reduce costs
  • The opportunities that exist to improve health care by engaging the patient
  • The effect of the new reimbursement models on patient engagement solutions
